Artist Statement
Painting is a joyous exploratory journey for me. It is a place where I immerse myself into self-imagination and discovery. I have always had a strong desire to explore, enriching my knowledge and thus my visual imagination.
When I sit in front of my canvas, paints and brushes ready, I begin to make a connection with the subject and everything else in my life falls away. I study the sections of the composition and make a light sketch. I begin to feel my way inside the subject with my mind. I notice the shapes, textures, patterns, edges and soft lines. My intent is to bring out my true passion for color and how it can play an emotional role in the viewer. My work does not necessarily reflect what I actually see, rather what I am imagining.
I love to paint and am continually inspired by nature. I believe that I was given a talent to share in its beauty through the use of paint and canvas. I hope that the collectors of my work can be touched in some way to “Stop and Smell the Roses” for a moment and reflect on the joy and beauty that has been given to use each day.
I hope that the passion I have for art and the passion I have to share nature’s beauty is reflected in my work.
